Three weeks and counting!

Well, Addison is due to make her grand entrance in three weeks....or less! We are so anxious for her to be here. I wanted to make a little upside down daisy hat for her and made it tiny so that it will fit her when she comes home from the hospital. It turned out adorable - she will be so cute in it. These last three weeks feel longer than the entire 9 months! My daughter is beautiful as a soon-to-be mom. To see my little girl with her own little girl will be magical.

See you soon baby Addison!

I love finishing!!!

Well, another project checked off my list. A pair of ribbed socks that I have had on the needles for a very long time are finally done. It wasn't even a matter of second sock syndrome because I was already done with the cuff of the second sock and then set it aside to work on other things. The longer it sat hidden in the bag, the further back on the list it got. Thanks to my year long gift-a-long I am finally tackling some of my UFOs so that I can move on to other things. My list keeps growing...baby hats, baby kimono, another pair of socks. And did I mention a knitted bear, bunny and elephant out of organic cotton? Is there ever an end? I hope not!!! I have way too much stash to stop now.

Strawberry Hat

I finished the Strawberry Hat that was on my Gift-along list. It's for my daughter's friend who just had a little girl two weeks ago. It's so cute that I think I need to make one for Baby Addison. She will look adorable in it. This was a free pattern from The Golden Fleece.

I need to spend some time today getting a better list made of what I want to make as gifts for the year. I always have the best ideas but wait too long to start. This year I want to be different...I want to be ready with things and even have some gifts made and in reserve. Is that asking too much? I already posted my list for February on the gift along but really need to revise it already. So much to do...so little time!

Let it Snow!

Funny how productive you can be during a snowstorm. Chicago and the south suburbs (me) got hit with a mighty snowstorm making driving to work impossible. I could have made it with my SUV, however my normal 1 hour commute would have taken 2 1/2 to 3 hours one way and most likely another 1 1/2 home. I just don't have the energy OR desire to be in the car that long unless I'm driving somewhere fun! In any case, I am working from home and hoping to accomplish some projects in between. Good day to focus on some of my projects for the Year Long Gift Along I am doing. Need to start checking off the projects. I have decided to start on the Strawberry Hat by The Golden Fleece. It is a gift for my daughter's friend who just had a baby girl 2 weeks ago. Need to check that off the list first so that she is able to use it while the weather is still cold. Since it is a basic stockinette rolled bottom hat, it will go fairly quickly. I should also use some time today to try organizing my patterns and really try getting a handle my yarn stash - I have lost count. Some time should be devoted to Ravelry as well....oh, just not enough time in a day!
